In April 2004, the California Legislature passed Governor Schwarzenegger's plan for reforming California's dysfunctional workers' compensation system. Now work needs to be done to ensure that these reforms are implemented as the reformers intended. The Workers' Compensation Action Network plays a "watchdog" role to ensure that its members and the media are informed about the implementation process so the legislative gains are protected and realized to ensure injured employees are given necessary medical care promptly and receive benefits timely, fraud is eliminated, legitimate disputes are resolved fairly and quickly, and system costs are reduced where inefficiencies and inequities exist. |
